My efforts to make
i-Métro compatible with the
iPhone seem to have failed, at least with our "nicer" versions (the
basic version is working all right, as far as I know), apparently because of bugs in the Safari browser, but there are good news in the pipe:
- First, the iPod Touch is now available in France and I will probably get one so that I can make live tests with the browser. The iPhone is also coming, but much later and I don't want to be tied with one operator (especially when its name begins with an "O" and ends with an "e").
- Second, Steve Jobs has officially announced that an SDK will be released in February, for the iPhone as well as for the iPod Touch. I guess it means we will have to lay our hand on a Mac to develop, but that's some progress. With it, we may be able to develop a "real" version of MetrO for the iPhone.
This is a very welcome development. I am very much looking forward to the native version of Métro on my iPhone.
ReplyDeleteI had a Palm Treo for 5 years before getting the iPhone in June. The *only* regret I've had is the loss of the wonderful Métro (Palm version) that I used for 4 of those 5 years.
