Shanghai

The first (short) section of the new metro line 13 in Shanghai (China) was inaugurated yesterday. At the same time, a 3 stations extension has opened at the southwestern end of line 9.

In addition, I have revised all the station name transcriptions in the "english" version of our database, for consistency's sake.

Beijing

The development of the metro network in Beijing (China) is still going on at a rapid pace. Today, the new line 6 is inaugurated, while important extensions are also opened on lines 8, 9 and 10.

Montélimar

After Frank reported that one route was missing from our database for Montélimar (France), it appeared that the bus network had been significantly overhauled since our last update.

Chongqing

The monorail system in Chongqing (China) has been extended again, this time with 10 new stations opened on line 3.

Wuhan

The second line of the Wuhan (China) metro has begun commercial operations yesterday.

Bogotá

G. Valbuena reported that the TransMilenio bus system in Bogotá (Colombia) has been extended again, with the opening of several new stations and services on the Calle 26 and Carretera 10 routes.

Moscow

Metro line 3 in Moscow (Russia) has been extended, with the opening today of a new station ("Pyatnitskoye shosse") after "Mitino".

Metro line 5 in Saint Petersburg (Russia) has been extended with 2 new stations, beyond "Volkovskaya": "Bukharestskaya" and  "Mezhdunarodnaya".

Nuremberg

L. Freund reports the opening this week of station "Steinbühl" on the S1 S-Bahn line in Nuremberg (Germany).

Moscow

A new station ("Alma-Atinskaya") has just opened on metro line 2 in Moscow (Russia).

Kaohsiung

A new station ("Gangshan South") has opened on the red line of the metro of Kaohsiung (Taiwan).

Genova

A new station ("Brignole") has opened on the single metro line of Genova (Italy).

Chongqing

An extension has just opened on metro line 1 in Chongqing (China), adding 7 new stations to its route (with 3 more to open in 2013).

Tehran

The first section of a new metro line has just opened in Tehran (Iran). Line 3 connects "Shahid Beheshti" (on line 1) and "Vali-e Asr" (on line 4) through 3 new stations.

Paris

Today, a new station ("Front Populaire") opens on subway line 12 in Paris (France).

A new section – comprising 7 stations – opens today on tram line 9 in Magdeburg (Germany), also occasionally served by line 3.

Today, in Paris (France), the extension of the T3 tram line to "Porte de la Chapelle" is inaugurated, bringing along many changes to the existing bus network. In addition, a new station will open on subway line 12 next Tuesday.

In London (United Kingdom), D. Futcher reported the opening of a final extension to the London Overground orbital route, wich now links up Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction.

A new Stadtbahn station – Rathaus – is being opened today on line 5 in Köln / Cologne (Germany).

Hamburg

L. Freud reported the recent opening of the new U4 subway line in Hamburg (Germany), which also brings a few changes to the existing bus network this week-end.

Copenhagen

In addition to a few minor updates to the bus network, L. Freund reports important changes to the night and week-end S-Tog (light rail) services in Copenhagen (Denmark), beginning tomorrow.
