Another ""Famous Software Award" for MetrO

Metro MadridWorks on the subway in Madrid (Spain) have ended this morning. Our special database will now be discontinued and you should revert to our standard file (if necessary, you may download a copy here).

Berlin (works)

BVG Tram line M2 in Berlin (Germany) is replaced by a bus service between Prenzlauer Allee/ Ostseestraße and Heinersdorf for a few weeks and tram lines M5, M6 & M8 will be affected by works around Landsberger Allee over the next week-end.

Strasbourg

Frank has geocoded the entire bus network of Strasbourg (France) and, as usual, we fixed a few errors and adjusted the routes for the new 2010-2011 services.

As a reminder of the consequence of this "geocoding", it means that users of MetrO for the iPhone can now find a route from/to their current position or a street address (in this case, prefix the address with an '@' in the starting point or destination field, until we design a more user-friendly interface). And the database will also extend the coverage in our Layar layer for iPhones and Android smartphones.

TCLWith the end of the summer, a few minor changes will affect the bus network in Lyon (France), starting next week.

RETThe Randstadrail E line linking Rotterdam to Den Haag (Netherlands) had its route changed and it now reaches Rotterdam central station.

Washington, DC

WMATATransportation fares in Washington, DC (USA) are increasing again: after the first step that was setup a few weeks ago, the new "peak of the peak" extra fee is being generalized this week-end.

Marseille

RTM Frank has geocoded our database for Marseille (France) and this brought up a number of issues with the data (errors or recent changes), that have been fixed.

MetrO for BlackBerry 5.9.0

BlackBerryThe new version (5.9.0) of MetrO for BlackBerry has just been released. It fixes a bug that made it impossible to store city files on a memory card when file encryption had been activated.

Toulouse

TisseoContinuing our current series, Frank has geocoded the entire bus network in Toulouse (France). In the process, we also fixed a few minor errors.

As usual, this means that users of MetrO for iPhone will be able to find routes to/from their location or a street address. In addition, all these cities with gecoded data are made available on i-MetrO for Layar, which lets you locate the nearest stations and stops in augmented reality (on iPhones and Android phones).

Rennes

With the release of the new 2010/2011 STAR timetables in Rennes (France), I refreshed our database for the metro and bus network. However, it still does not include the suburban routes.

Once again, I geocoded all the stops and our iPhone users will enjoy the ability to search for routes to/from their position or a street address.

Lyon

TCLAfter the recent update to our database for Lyon (France), I made a complete check of its contents and added a few extra bus routes (althouth some infrequent or "remote" lines are still not included).

I am also happy to announce that I geocoded the entire metro, tram, trolleybus and  bus network, which will allow you to find your route from/to your location or a street address in the area (on the iPhone version of MetrO). The update is ready to download on your phone!

As part of the announcement of its enhanced mobile strategy, Concur, a leading provider of on-demand employee spend management services, unveiled its partnership with Kinevia.

Complementing Concur’s mobile travel and expense solution, interoperability with our MetrO app will allow users to benefit from a quick access to information over the public transportation systems all over the world.

Concur's mobile application for BlackBerry and iPhone will be first to provide a direct link to the MetrO app, with the addition of the Android version planned as soon as we deliver our software for this platform.

Lyon

TCLL. Freund reports the opening of the Rhônexpress in Lyon (France), a new tram link to the airport. As a consequence, the Satobus bus route is discontinued.
