Wellington
On a suggestion from P. de Oliveira, I added the Cable Car route to our database for Wellington (New Zealand).
In the process, I discovered that our data for the bus routes is quite outdated. If I can't get help updating it, I'm afraid I will have to drop the buses from our file...

Our services are live again!
It does not happen often but our server has been down for the last 7 hours, leaving everyone without access to our MetrO web site, our i-MetrO services, and, more importantly, the city databases that you can use with the BlackBerry and iPhone versions of MetrO.
Everything is now running again and we apologize for the interruption.

MetrO for BlackBerry
I finally took some time to investigate the issues with MetrO on the Blackberry Storm I wrote about earlier.
I found a "trick" to prevent the "compatibility mode" to be turned on by default but, unfortunately, it only works with OTA setups. If you install the program with the BlackBerry desktop, you still have to manually change the settings as described in my previous post. For the techies among you, I am still looking for a complete solution, feel free to help ;-)
While on the BlackBerry version, I also realized that it was a bit flawed on recent devices (e.g. the Storm, again), with misaligned and sometimes disappearing icons. These problems have now been fixed and you can expect an update with our next general release (5.8.6), later this month.

MetrO for Classic on Palm Pre
While we still don't have plans to release a version of MetrO for the Palm Pre, our PalmOS version runs fine with MotionApps' Classic.
And the "Classic certification" process being now much faster and free, we can easily deliver certified versions of MetrO for Classic in any language. The English, French and German versions are already available on our home page. If you want it in another language, please contact me.

Happy New Year!
2009 has gone and here is a quick summary of what it was for MetrO.
The most important event for us was the release of MetrO for the iPhone, which made a success on the AppStore with more than 500,000 downloads in less than 6 months!
The release of i-MetrO for Layar and the experiment with augmented reality that it represents is another milestone for the year, although with less impact.
Now, 2010 is here and it will be a busy year as well: our iPhone app still needs some work; we have to finalize the Symbian version to run on the latest S60 system (which turns out to be quite difficult) and the pressure to build a version for Android is growing...
We also have a wish for the new year: we would like to see more of you helping us keep our data up to date. The software has always been (for 10 years, now) a collective work and we need your contribution to make it useful!
