i-MetrO on Amadeus.net

I had the pleasant surprise to discover that Amadeus has made i-MetrO available on their traveller web site. Of course, we knew this was planned (and, as a matter of fact, we worked a bit on this project lately), but we were not aware of its release...

On Amadeus.net, select the "Travel tools" tab and then choose "Subway Planner" (or "i-MetrO") on the side menu (these names will depend on your language). You will notice that this version of i-MetrO has a different user interface with a few new tricks (like the selection list showing up after you enter the first letters of a stop name).

If you like it, keep the address in your bookmarks! Amadeus.net offers a variety of services and information for the traveller and it's good to have them only a mouse click away.

Fribourg...

What is happening on December 12th? Why are so many european transport companies changing their timetables on this particular day? It is getting quite difficult for me to catch up with all those updates.

Today, I have completed the new Fribourg database. Besides the new routes, it was the occasion to include the operating times. Thanks to A. Cotting for his help on this!

And the next release of the program will probably come out on December 12th...

London railways

With a big help from C. Brannan, I was able today to add the complete First Great Western rail network and part of the South West Trains system (I did not include the lines going too far from the City) to the London database.

Köln, Tokyo, Wien

A few little updates today:
  • M. Jaegers started contributing additional bus lines in the Köln (Cologne) database. The first result of his efforts is line 120.
  • Y. Katagiri notified me of the impending opening of a new stop on the Tokyo Haneda Monorail which, starting on December 1st, will reach the Haneda Airport Terminal 2.
  • The "Lerchenfelder Straße" stop on U2 line in Wien (Vienna) is not in service anymore. T. Mascha suggested to remove it (which, of course, I did).

The MetrO Mobile blog is born

This blog was born today to provide MetrO users with some insight into the progress of the software between releases: planned improvements in the program, new cities as they are contributed and other changes in the city databases as I update them.

I will try to give you more details about those changes, compared to what you usually read in the program history including, for example, what exactly has been modified in a city.

Given that I also have a regular (time-consuming) job and that I have so many things to do every day, I am not yet sure that I will be able to maintain this blog as I intend to, but just let's try!
