MetrO for BlackBerry

BlackBerryA few days after releasing our first beta version of Metro for the Blackberry, a major issue has been encountered by some users: it appears that the software cannot access the Internet on some "personal" devices -- i.e. those that are not connected to an enterprise server.

The bad news is that it does not look easy to fix that problem, to put it mildly. I will try to find a solution but it may take time and in the interim, I'm afraid those users affected will have to do without MetrO...

The good news is that for users who don't have this problem, the software appears to run fine!

Thanks to all those who tried out this first release and reported about their experience. And special thanks to Luciano, who got out of his way to try and help me!

MetrO for BlackBerry

When I committed to deliver a version of MetrO for the BlackBerry monthes ago, I did not expect it would take so long. Today, at last, the wait is almost over and I am happy to release our first beta version of MetrO for BlackBerry.

It is not yet complete but I believe it has all the essential features that will make it useful on the first day. And despite what I have written before, this is a complete "on-board" software and you will need a network connection only to download the software itself and city databases.

Complete information and a download link are available here.

Please note that this is beta software and it has not been extensively tested on real devices. If you don't want to take any risk with your data, please don't install MetrO on your BlackBerry yet.
If you do want to participate in the beta phase,
please report any issue you may encounter, providing as much detail as possible (and accept our apologies). Thanks in advance!
