D. Pedespan has spotted an annoying error in our database for Marseille (France), in the form of an undue connection between the tram and the subway.

Lyon

L. Freund has provided 2 additional shuttle bus lines for our database for Lyon (France).

MetrO on the iPhone (2)

My efforts to make i-Métro compatible with the iPhone seem to have failed, at least with our "nicer" versions (the basic version is working all right, as far as I know), apparently because of bugs in the Safari browser, but there are good news in the pipe:

• First, the iPod Touch is now available in France and I will probably get one so that I can make live tests with the browser. The iPhone is also coming, but much later and I don't want to be tied with one operator (especially when its name begins with an "O" and ends with an "e").

• Second, Steve Jobs has officially announced that an SDK will be released in February, for the iPhone as well as for the iPod Touch. I guess it means we will have to lay our hand on a Mac to develop, but that's some progress. With it, we may be able to develop a "real" version of MetrO for the iPhone.

 

MetrO 5.6.1

The new version of MetrO has been released. It brings 5 new cities, updates for many others and minor improvements on the program.

Toulouse

M. Dulerm sent another batch of minor updates for the bus network in Toulouse (France).

New York (works)

Our special "works" database for New York (USA) has been updated with the latest advisories from the MTA, and it's a complete nightmare, once again... Download the new database here or with our usual online update services.

Attention Palm users: this database MUST NOT be installed in main memory on Palm devices - it has to be DIRECTLY installed on a memory card - and will be recognized only by the latest version (5.6.0) of the program.

Next update planned on or around Friday, October 19.

Poprad

P. Absolon has submitted an extensive update for the bus network in Poprad (Slovakia).

Paris (works)

Stations "Rue du Bac" and "Danube" in the Paris (France) subway are closing today for a few weeks. Additionally, the RER E service will be disrupted on weekday evenings for the next 2 weeks. Download the updated "temporary" files:

• Paris-travaux (complete rail network)
  
• Paris-full-travaux (inner city subway, bus and RER networks). To use this one on a Palm device, you must get the new version (5.6.0) of the program and directly install the file on a memory card.

Torino

The subway line in Torino (Italy) has been extended with 3 new stations.

Marseille

In addition to a few error fixes, C. Contal has compiled an extensive list of places of interest (PoI) for our Marseille (France) database.

Paris "Nuit Blanche"

The 6th "Nuit Blanche" ("sleepless night") in Paris is organized tomorrow night and a special transportation service will be available. We have prepared a specific database for the occasion, also available on i-Métro.

[FRENCH] Demain soir, Paris vivra sa 6ème nuit blanche. La RATP met en place un service de transport spécial, avec ouverture de la ligne 14 de métro, une navette entre St Lazare et le quartier des Batignolles et plusieurs modifications sensibles sur le réseau Noctilien (bus de nuit).

Métro est (évidemment) prêt à vous accompagner pendant toute cette nuit avec une base de données dédiée ou avec i-Métro.

Copenhagen

After the changes on the S-tog network in Copenhagen (Denmark), and as could be expected, C. Hindsgaul reports some changes on the bus network as well.

Lyon

A new station will open tomorrow in the Lyon (France) subway network. One bus line will also have its route extended.
