Bordeaux

V. Lavedan noticed an extension of tram line C in Bordeaux (France). It also appears the bus network has changed but I don't have the required information to update our database...

Berlin (works)

The disruptions affecting subway line U8 in Berlin (Germany) were supposed to end last night but they are now planned to last until October.

A minor update for our database (only the information has changed) is available here or with our usual online update services.

Frankfurt am Main

P. Absolon reported a new station on subway line U4 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). I also discovered the bus network was obsolete and I had to rewrite it entirely (I wish someone would have helped!).

Arcachon

V. Lavedan reports some changes on the bus network in Arcachon (France).

New York (works)

Our special "works" database for New York (USA) has been updated with the latest advisories from the MTA. Download the new database here or with our online update services.

Attention Palm users: this database MUST NOT be installed in main memory on Palm devices (see the installation guide for details).

Madrid

Today in Madrid (Spain), a new tunnel has opened on lines C3 & C4, leading to an important rearrangement of the RENFE Cercanías network.

Paris (works)

Subway line 3 in Paris (France) will be closed between Gambetta & Opéra next week-end (Monday included). Use our online update services or download the "temporary" files here:

• Paris-travaux (complete rail network)
  
• Paris-full-travaux (inner city subway, bus and RER networks). To use this one on a Palm device, you must get a recent version (5.6.0 or later) of the program and directly install the file on a memory card.

Dresden

R. Lippold reports a bus stop name change (Eissporthalle) in Dresden (Germany).

Washington-Baltimore

J. Tannenwald submitted a change to the POI list in our Washington-Baltimore (USA) database, with the opening of the Nationals Park stadium.

MetrO for BlackBerry

I have just released a second beta version of MetrO for the BlackBerry which should fix some issues and bring a few additional features.

First, I have found a way to fix the connection problem I reported earlier. It may not solve the problem for everyone but it has been proved to work in some cases. Since it involves configuring your network access, I strongly recommend that you read our user guide. Thanks again to Luciano for his help on this issue!

Second, I am sorry to say that the previous version had a rather serious bug that would prevent any network connection after a while. This has been fixed as well. If you keep the old version, a simple reset on your BlackBerry should fix this problem.

On the feature side, I'll write only about the 2 major new ones. The systems activation status -- when you activate and/or deactivate transportation systems -- is now saved in your preferences and will be kept between uses. And a new option lets you choose to display the route with the least changes first in the calculation results, the shortest route coming in second in that case.

Last, there is still an issue I have not been able to solve. When you upgrade your version of MetrO on you BlackBerry, the system will prompt for a reset. Be sure to accept it and, even if you don't get the prompt, do a reset anyway after the installation. If you still get error messages after the upgrade, I'm sorry but I'm afraid you will have to remove the existing version on your device and start with a fresh install.

Accept my apologies for this (and anyone who has a clue about this behavior -- apparently related to the use of the BlackBerry persistent store -- is welcome to contact me)!

Mexico

Madrid (works)

Starting tomorrow morning in Madrid (Spain), subway line 7 will be partly closed and replaced by a shuttle bus service, until August 31.

In order to avoid confusion in our next release, I have created a specific "Madrid-works" file. Please note that the original "Madrid" file will be restored to the normal services.

Berlin (works)

M. Ciesielski points out that in our last update for Berlin (Germany), I forgot to mention the disruptions affecting subway line U1, which will last until October, and I missed the accompanying extension of U3 service up to Gleisdreieck.

He also suggested the addition of a connection between bus & subway lines at Kochstraße.

Brest

Although I don't know exactly when it actually happens, the "Bus des Plages" (Beaches Bus) will soon enter in service in Brest (France). Additionally, M. Pouliquen provided a few fixes and updates for our database.
